This school year, Shawsville Middle School will be partnering with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). This will only be for students who want to participate. Students do not have to be athletes to participate. Literature was passed out at Back to School Night to families who are interested. During IE on Monday, a form will be shared with students who are interested, but did not attend Back to School Night. Students who are not interested will not receive the form. I wanted to reach out to let families know. More details will be included moving forward for students who are interested, such as meeting times. Families of participants will be kept in the loop with information. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns at 540-268-2262. If you DO NOT want your child to receive an FCA Google Form during IE, please contact me by Monday, 8/18 at 9:00 AM.

Please see the two important announcements below.

Our Shawsville Middle School Open House event will be held on Monday, August 11th from 4:30 - 6:30. Please come out and receive your child's schedule. Families will also have a chance to meet teachers and pick up student chromebooks. The following opportunities will also be provided:

-Assistance with completing student registration
-Free school supplies
-Learning about the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)
-Learning about NRVCS (New River Valley Community Services) and NCG (National Counseling Group) school-based counseling services.


Several opportunities for students to receive Back to School Vaccines will be available.
7th Grade: TDAP, HPV, and Meningitis
12th Grade: Menengitis

SMS Families,This is a friendly reminder to complete the returning student registration and school care portion. Student placement letters will be mailed out on July 15th ONLY to those that have completed both sections of registration. 🍽️ Summer Meals in July 🍽️ Every Monday in July, meals will be available to children 18 and under, free of charge. Meal kits will contain seven breakfasts and seven lunch meals. Pick-up is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on July 7, 14, 21, and 28. at SMS, BES and Belmont Christian Church. Children do not need to be present at the time of pick-up. This program is open to anyone in the community with children under the age of 18. #WeAreMCPS
