Please see the information below about Winter Sport TRYOUTS!
Girls Basketball Tryouts begin Tuesday, October 20 from 3:15-5:15pm. There will be a mandatory parent meeting immediately following tryouts on Tuesday, October 20.
Tryout Schedule:
Tuesday, October 20: 3:15–5:15 PM
Wednesday, October 21: 3:15–5:15 PM
Thursday, October 22: 3:15–5:15 PM

Boys tryouts will be October 19 and 20 from 5:30-7:30. There will be a mandatory parent meeting on October 22 at 7pm.

Cheer tryouts will be on October 23 from 3:30-5:30. There will be a mandatory parent meeting on October 26 beginning at 5:30pm

ALL athletes trying out for any winter sport MUST have a physical on file. Please contact our AD, Coach Buchanan at henrybuchanan@mcps.org with any questions.

CHCNRV School Clinic at EMHS - We are pleased to share that MCPS is partnering with the Community Health Center of the New River Valley (CHCNRV) to open a new school-based health center at Eastern Montgomery High School. The center is expected to open on October 19 and will serve students and staff throughout MCPS. By bringing health services into a school setting, this partnership is designed to make care more convenient and accessible for our school communities. Please see the attached flyer.

We are looking for Shawsville Middle School parents/guardians who would like to join our Parent Advisory Committee. This will be a division-wide committee with representatives from each school. This committee will meet quarterly, and members will be asked to give their perspective on a pre-selected list of topics at each meeting. Attendance Matters!

Good morning All,

We’d like to thank our former student, Eilley Harrison, for building a community book share in our bus loop. This beautiful addition can be found right beside the gazebo and is filled with books for anyone to come and get. This work was done for Eilley’s Silver Award for Girl Scouts. She spent her volunteer hours creating something that will benefit her community for years to come. She chose to create the community book share because of her love of reading and desire to encourage reading in Shawsville. As we all know, literacy is one of the most essential life skills needed to be successful! Please see the beautiful photos below of her development.
